After visiting our naturist friends the other evening it was a shame
we had to dress for the journey home. It was to be a journey of some
forty miles most of which was motorway. We were soon out of town
heading for the motorway, our cars heater soon blew hot. My wife
unzipped her track suit top a little and then all the way down. I
suggested that if she is that hot to take it off. Her reply was why
not!! lets drive home nude!! something that we have keen to try for
ages

We found a layby just before the motorway, it was about 11.30pm and
there were very few people were about. We pulled into the layby and
took off our tracksuits and placed them on the back seat. The motorway
was fairly quite, sticking to the inside lane at about 60mph we must
have driven some thirty miles totally naked which truly exhilarating
and not once was we spotted. such was the experince we are planning to
do this again. Has anyone else done this sort of thing? One has to be
careful and try to avoid accidents of course as this would certainly
look good on the claim form :)

Talking of hurt feet, how about this.

For those of you familiar with Eureka nudist club you will know that
when walking up to the clubhouse from the lawn, there are paving slabs
set into the ground to walk on.

However there is a point when these slabs stop and there are several
painful steps to the clubhouse over rough concrete. (Where Stuart
parks his monster of a motorbike, next to Barry's wreck of a car)

The kids just run over this rough ground barefoot and don't seem to
feel it, but I'm walking as though it's hot coals!

When I wrote my previous reply to this thread I forgot about driving nude at
naturist sites. Been there, done that (but didn't get the T-shirt). But it's
far more fun to drive nude on public roads.

Actually I usually drive barefoot, even in winter. I feel more in control of
the car when I can feel the pedals directly. (I once heard that it's illegal to
drive barefoot, can anyone confirm this ?. )

alcohol, then they warn you about speed and how it kills. They check

I don't think so, but then perhaps I'm wrong.

It certainly wasn't illegal around 1979, as that is when I took my
first driving test. I took it barefoot, and whilst I failed the 1st
test, no comment was made about me driving barefoot. (Passed 2nd time
BTW).

This is a common topic on rec.nude.

I don't think it's true, unless it is dangerous for you. It is always illegal to
drive in such a way that you do not have full control of the vehicle.

My partner never drives with shoes on, only bare or stockinged feet, as
she feels more in control that way. On the other hand, when I've tried it, I
have felt it was unsafe. This is about the only occasion (apart from very
sharp stones and very cold weather) that I prefer shoes to bare feet.

I've often driven up and down the down the motorway nude. If you look at the cars
that pass, you'll realise it is not possible to see the driver below chest height.
However I keep something to cover up with as I pass the long distance coaches - the
passengers sit high enough to be able to see in.

I've also driven on other roads nude but you have to be more careful. In the height
of last summer I was surprised at just how dressed up many motorists were. I get
too hot with nothing on !

No Peter, seems youv'e got it right, Mark Wilson told me the same
story.

Here's a worse experience that I had involving Mark Wilson and a car.

I do not drive (well I do, but have no car) and so go to Eureka by
train. One night I stayed very late and it was dark as I was leaving
the club for the walk (40 minutes approx) to Longfield station.

Mark was aghast at the fact that I was going to walk in the dark along
the Fawkham road which is quite dangerous.

Mark insisted in giving me a lift to the station. It was the most
hair-raising five minutes of my life. Mark as I later found out was
as blind as a bat!

I tried it barefoot years ago, probably before servo assisted brakes came
out. I guess automatic gearbox would make a differance too.

I have only driven one automatic car - a Jaguar 4.8 (I think)

In "drive 1" it crawled along on tickover!

Without thinking, as we were driving I put out my left foot to depress
the (missing) clutch pedal and hit the brake. If you drivers out there
do not know just how hard you brake when you use your left foot, not
the right, get on a deserted road and try it!

For God's sake have good tyres and wear the seatbelts!!!

That depends upon the car. Generally speaking, the more powerful the
engine and the better quality the car, the more control the auto box
gives you. I have driven autos across a wide range and found this to be
so. The Jag should have been a good quality box but one has to learn
when to force the box down ala manual, so as to gain more control. Many
folks just allow the revs to drop and then the car can drift,
particularly when coming off a curving motorway slip road.

>>In "drive 1" it crawled along on tickover!
>

>Common fault if not adjusted right.
I was told that this was normal. On account of the way the box (in this
case BMW 7 series) was made. If you engaged the gear and then sat
without foot brake,it would roll forward. If it did not, they sai, it
would require the box to be more complicated and, they pointed out, you
would not put a manual into gear, let the clutch in - and not expect it
to move!!!

>>Without thinking, as we were driving I put out my left foot to depress
>>the (missing) clutch pedal and hit the brake. If you drivers out there

You get used to it! I had an auto for a number of years (above) but
drove company 'pool' cars that were akways manual. It only took 100
yards to get used to it.

Driving nude? A pleasure that awaits me in the future ;-)

Yes, I also often drive along motorways nude. I started driving nude
in France while staying at various naturist resorts and travelling to
and from the nude beach. There did not seem much point in putting on
a pair of shorts for such a journey. As with you, I soon realised
that very few people would be able to nice that I was nude, and nude
driving is a very enjoyable experience, especially with the windows
and sun roof open. I have driven from the South of France to Calais
nude (except for wearing shorts to fill up with petrol and get some
food!).

Realising how pleasent it was to drive nude, I now do so when ever I
have the opportunity in UK. I live in South East London and have
regular meetings in Brimingam and Oxford. I has to very very warm to
drive to the meetings nude, but after a hot stickey meeting, it is
bliss to travel back down the M40 and M25 'au natural'.

I always have a pair or shorts by my side 'just in case' !

Carry a piece of cloth about 1.5 metres by 1 metre. It's not fashionable here,
but it is a standard piece of casual clothing for men and women in much of
southern Asia, and for women over most of sub-Saharan Africa. I found it
incredibly useful in the Middle East.

Sit on it in the car, then if you have to get out of the car in a hurry, wrap it
round your waist (men) or above the breasts (women) and tuck it in. Much
quicker than putting shorts on.

Who knows, you might start a new fashion :)

Material is almost always cotton and often middle to low quality. If the
pattern is all swirly-wirly, they are called Sarongs. If the patterns
are horizontal bars of colour (stripey) then it is called a Kikoi. I am
wearing one at the moment.

A sort of tartan is common for men in the Middle East, brightly-coloured
with various patterns for women everywhere. Most of the world does not
go for the dull clothing that we regard as "tasteful" in the West. Of course,
it varies from place to place.

Have a look in your local Asian textile shop - this may mean a trip to
Bradford, Leicester, Southall or Handsworth. They can probably show you
the sort of thing I'm thinking of.
