I saw a moth yesterday in my garden that I'd never seen before, so I
looked it up on the UK moths site. Scarlet Tiger. UK moths seem to
suggest it's locally common in the south of England, and also found in
the North West. Is it unusual to see it in Leicestershire?

In article <gnqif2...@mid.individual.net>,
christin...@gmail.com says...
I could ask my mate from Leicester that I have just returned from Greece
with, but he has no discernable interest in insects beyond fly-swots.
(And didn't like the huge ichneumon fly/wasp (probably Rhyssa
persuasoria) that kept buzzing us any more than the others of the
party!)

Ha ha ha. Never mind, I've never seen one before, and I've seen it
twice now. I'm delighted to think it's spread this far upcountry.
And now I'm going to send another post about the iridescent green
ladybird-like beetles I saw on my sage bush last year, I still don't
know what they are.
