The Foulston Woman is well known to hate (or at least, dislike) motor
racing. She inherited the Foulston Empire when her father[1] (a keen and
very good motor racer) died.
However, M(r?)s Foulston is very, very attracted to money. Something
Bernie "Moneybags" Eccleston is not short of. She's also into "corporate
hospitality" and "corporate days", because they earn more money than a
club meeting. This is why Brands Hatch is the /most/ expensive circuit to
race on (despite, by all accounts, having a fantastic GP circuit).
I've never raced there myself (Ace Vehicles, being a BARC championship,
tend to avoid BRSCC meetings like the plague), although I'd like to
sometime.
[1] And I've forgotten his bl**dy name! Sheesh, some historian /I'd/
make.

John Foulston.Died at Silverstone in an Indy car,not converted from
Oval track spec, although that was not the cause of the accident, which
I believe was alleged to be a stuck throttle. He partnered John
Brindley, often in his Can Am Lola ,an awesome beast.Bring back
Thundersports,and un silenced running :-)
John Foulston owned Atlantic Computers that financed all this, and John
Brindley, who is still alive AFAIK,but I haven't seen him race in
years,despite his obvious talent,had a company called FailSafe,that I
used to believe was a data backup company, again,in the computer
industry.
They were both charismatic figures, with a seemingly genuine enthusiasm
for motor racing, and a desire to put something back into the sport. In
fairness, they were also business men,and Atlantic Computers I believe
was the subject of in depth trade and industry scrutiny :-)

I had heard he was driving a McLaren Can Am type car when he crashed.

Yes,his wife was Mary Foulston, now in France,I think, and no longer
with any controlling interest in BHL.Someone once said she had a
falling out with the daughter, but only hearsay.
I also believe the car set alight, not good with marshals probably
unaware it was on Methanol, which burns with a flame invisible in
daylight. I found him a friendly,and charismatic bloke,with no
edge, despite his enormous wealth.Never did get a go in his
helicopter,though :-(
Are you in the right newsgroup here? I suggest that comments like these
do no favours to the club racer, I take it that this is what you are?
Most of us, I suspect, understand that there are commercial realities
when it comes to controlling the amount of real estate that Ms Foulston
does. We also understand that our kind of meeting does not on the whole
generate revenue commensurate with those commercial facts. Given this I
would point out that the continued use of Brands Hatch's facilities by
the likes of you and me is very much at the whim of the Brands hatch
board and you are doing the rest of us no favours with this outburst.
Furthermore did you see reports of the recent 750MC meeting at Brands or
the statement made by Ms Foulston about club racing at BH circuits? The
news is not all bad.
Leave the rest of us to go racing and go and indulge your fantasies at
uk.misc.stickitup.misc
I hope that I am not out of line here, if so I am sure that the rest of
you will let me know.
