Anyone able to tell me or give me a link to the front and rear wheel
spindle torque settings on a Bandit 6 and a ZXR400.

TIA

Torque settings on wheel spindles????

I tend to use the grunt scale method: Nnnngggg....that's tight.

be sure you grunt scale has been correctly calibrated to the thread size and
wrench length before you start though :o)

Not that you need to be told but make sure your tools are up to the job.
Nothing hurts more than tightening the footrest bolts to "Unngg" with a
cheapsh*te screwdriver only to have it snap at the handle forcing your
knuckles and palm into sharp pointy bits of metal. DAMHIK,IJD,OK.

Now really ! With my seriously limited experience I'd say that is
dangerously low for the rear. OK for the front maybe, but on the
rear spindle nothing short of two grunts is safe.
And that is with proper tools. Using the tool kit items, it might well
require a "fuck, that hurts".

Just make sure you don't get as far as "I'm-sure-this-bastard-

Reminds me of my army training. We were training for our driving
permits and were changing wheels on our trucks.
Soldier - How much force do I use to get the wheel nuts right ?
Officer - that handle is made to measure, jump on it and the
torque will be spot on !

That reminds me of a wet and uncomfortable Saturday morning in a
scrapyard in Sunderland ...

I was lying on my back trying to remove some stubborn gearbox bolts
and paused for breath after skinning the third knuckle, when I heard
this sequence of noises: bump, bump, thud ... booiing ... THUD -
patpatpatpat bump thump bump thud - *grunt* - BOOING ...*THUD* -
patpat ... etc, repeated several times, getting louder each time.

I thought it was time for a ciggie, so I slid out from under the
delightful Cortina I was struggling with - to see a spotty yoof having
a problem with a Beetle hub nut. He'd got a big socket on it, and a
big tommy bar and he'd slipped a scaffold tube over that. In an
attempt to generate sufficient leverage to crack the nut off, he was
climbing up the back of the Beetle, to a point on the roof above the
end of the scaffold tube.

He then jumped into the air and came down from a height of perhaps
nine feet onto the end of the just-above-horizontal tube. The tube
would then bend, almost touching the ground, before reasserting itself
and whipping upwards, propelling said spotty yoof into the air, about
as high as my head. He flailed madly at the top of his arc, before
gracefully descending to earth with a solid *THUD* (and an "oof" on
occasion). Muttering obscenities, he repeated his doomed efforts
several times.

I decided that it was infinitely more amusing watching this rather
than shearing bolts off myself, so I gave him the benefit of a bit of
verbal encouragement for a few minutes. This had the effect of waking
up the other Saturday morning denizens of the scrappy, who shambled in
for a closer look. There was about 20 of us in the end, muttering and
catcalling by turn, when our fun was ended by a little old guy, who
limped across to the yoof, arse hanging out of his overalls, and
offered a hand.

The yoof turned a bit disdainful and opined if his bulging youthful
muscles could not remove this nut, then Gramps would have no chance.
Of course, Gramps rose to this and wagered the yoof a fiver (a lot of
dosh in 1978) that *he* could easily get the nut off. There was a
free and frank exchange of views for a few seconds, then Gramps pushed
his way to the back of the Beetle, pulled the tommy bar out of the
socket, rotated it through 90 degrees and sat on the end of it.

*CRACK* the nut was undone. The yoof had never heard of a left hand
thread. A round of applause and a torrent of abuse followed from the
gathered throng.

While you still have a candle, burn it at both ends
- and torch it in the middle while you're at it!

Kind words butter no parsnips.
