well worn. How I managed to wear the front at about the same rate as the
back is a mystery. The Pilot Power 2CTs had retained a reasonable
profile. I'm sure they were much less squared off than non-dual-compound
tyres I have had in the past.
Anyway, the usual wonderful ride-in service from Magnum in town this
morning saw a fresh pair fitted. A bimble round just now confirmed how
much I liked them when originally fitted. They certainly got well up to
temperature quickly given the weather, so that's one heat cycle out of
the way.
Must get one or two more in before the Manx. Unfortunately, given that I
won't be able to get a track day in before then, I suspect that they
will still have laughably wide chicken strips by September, unlike the
old ones.
Sadly, the ride also reminded me how quickly my hips and knees protest
at riding these days.
BTW, in case you haven't noticed, it ain't 'alf 'ot out there. The
cooling fan was coming on at times even when proceeding at moderate out
of town speeds. Kept an eagle eye on the 'I am just about to boil'
warning light, but remembered that it seemed to cope in it's home land
with even higher temperatures on the ride back from a Mas du Clos track
day in 2005 and stopped worrying.

It sure is warm. I had to go to Cardiff this morning. Took a scenic route
home. My legs got a bit warm riding through the suburbs to get to the rural
roads. Sticky out cylinders are great when it is cool but not so good
today.
The ride was very pleasant, especially once over 1000ft above sea level.

Dropped to a comfortable 35 here. Gets to 38-40 by 8pm though, and in
July doesn't drop much below 35 all night.
T'would be difficult to sleep if it weren't for San Miguel and cheap gin.

Currently got that on "plasma only". Not really hot enough for paying all
that money. When we do have it on we set it at 26 and leave it on all
night. Certain activities require it.
Just popped out to put the pool pump on and the temp has sneaked up to 40
already. More gin please.

I went to Skegness for lunch yesterday, from about an hour out you could
feel the effects of the onshore breeze and it was very pleasant.
Twas a tad on the warm side till I got to A38/Belper(ish) when the velocity
of the breeze could be increased towards Ashbourne.
Still, 380 miles, better than working.

Presumably the old air cooled boxers provided even more heated airflow
than the new breed. Imagine riding an R90/6 in a France during the
infamous summer of '76. It was like riding in a fan oven.

TBH, despite the extra expense I would rather fit new tyres in pairs
these days. The pikey in me used to prevent me doing that on the bikes I
have had before if there was a reasonable amount of tread left on the
front.

I used to wear out the front before the rear on my ZXR4. A combination
of only 70bhp at the rear and a very front-heavy riding style at the
time. I'm better now.

I don't live within 100mts of the sea. I assume that's what you're
referring to? Or are you talking about the houses that are being pulled
down because the bent mayor sold them the licence to build in the nature
reserve or summat?

Seems to have been a succession of bent local officials, dodgy
developers and incompetent solicitors. Then there's the normal
compulsory purchase for a new road to go through, but that's a bugger
anywhere.

We're having a bit of a clearout in Spain at the mo. They thought your
lot were ever so funny, resigning over a few dodgy expense claims etc.
Here anything less than a publicly exposed and totally proven massive
bribe, is just ignored. But the Marbella lot and a few other things (like
blatant nepotism in high places) has made people bay for a bit of blood
lately.
The ex mayor of our little village is to be dragged over the coals for
corruption and various other crimes. The mayor of the neighbouring
village has just got off a rape charge. Head of Spanish Secret Service
has just "resigned" over fiddling the till. The newspapers are a scream.
