that I am KOtL
So, in time honoured tradition (and with one trouser leg rolled up) I hereby
swear in the following members who have undergone the sacred rites of riding
in the A413, in the presence of other UKRMers and breakfasting at one of the
fine food establishments in Buckingham.
BOTAFOT#0 goes to Rik, for selflessly christening the road with his bike.

BOTAFOT#1 goes to Bear for, so far, being faster than anybody else along
that bit of road, even with a steaming hangover.
BOTAFOT#2 is me, cos I say so, right?
BOTAFOT#3 belongs to Ace with an honourable mention for managing to do the
entire 12 miles without his bike breaking down or requiring a major service.
BOTAFOT#4 goes to Paul Carmichael with a demerit for deciding that going
home to do chores was more interesting than riding any further with us.
I am reserving BOTAFOT#13 for the first person to get nicked on a UKRM run
along that road and BOTAFOT#69 for the first UKRMer to manage to score in
the Little Chef, but all other numbers are open.
Anybody up for it this Sunday?

out to play on sunday if I don't get all my painting done (I was

Fairy nuff. It's not that *I* don't go fast, rather the SZR runs out
of puff around 110mph. It goes around corners OK, though.

Time is variable - 11am seems to be the norm at the moment.

I don't fink I've had the CBR over 120 on that bit of road, so you should be
OK. There's a few villages that slow things down and enough traffic to
allow catch up time for the slower riders.
There's also an alarming number of wobbly gits on R1's, Dukes and Blades
that you can blow into the weeds and feel proud about.

Roight. I'm off out to swap the zorst off the VFR. Mr InsCoEng is
coming tomorrow to say "Yea" or "Nay" to its requiring disposal as
land-fill or whatever.
I'm seriously jiggered at the mo as I'd hoped to buy me a 6R; small
problemo - I'm a wee bit,er , long for one. I foolishly parked
myself on top of a 2000 spec 9R and the bastard thing fitted. Small
problem with insuring such an animal.
So any thoughts?

I'll have the zorst off you, should be able to fit it using my extensive
toolkit[1]. I was going to have it off as soon as the bike was off the
deck, but Bear pointed out that it was a bit tasteless to strip your bike
while you were still in shock[2].

Having seen darsy muscle a Bindit 12 around corners in an "enthusiastic"
manner, I would hazard a guess that he is no slouch on the SZR ...

I've not had the 9R beyond 130 anywhere along that road ... the
acceleration helps overtakes, sure, but believe me, it's not the
straights where I make up the time :-)=

I find that when you do overtake someone on a much faster bike on a
corner, they invariably pull some stupid overtaking manoevre on the
next straight.

Unfortunately, having got it off the bike, I've now discovered it's
somewhat, er, past best [1]
In fact, the whole rear sub-frame is banana'd. I couldn't actually
refit the OEM can properly, so I bolted the can to the bottom of the
peg-hanger and got one bolt through the hanger to the subframe,
then, somehow got some of the bodywork (what's left, anyway) over
the thing.

'Bout right. I managed most of my "maintenance" this afo with
a dodgy Ł3.99 socket set, a 1" adjustable spanner and a lot of
brute-force and ignorance.
I don't yet own a hammer. Anyway, I couldn't trust myself to
operate one safely.

Popped down to Jack Lilley's in Shepperton where they had a launch-thingy
for the TT600. Thought it looked really crap in all the photos, but in the
flesh it looks pretty slinky, especially the silver/red one. Had a sit on
one and it's pretty spacious, even for a tall git like me. I may be
darkening their doorstep for a test ride some time soon, bank manager and
insurance permitting.

The speed at which the A413 is tackled is entirely at the discretion of the
individual. As the main objective is to get yourself to Buckingham to enjoy
some brunch there isn't much of a hurry.

You reckon Gunk's any good then? I had been using Yoshimoto Phoxitorf,
which totally rocks, but I can't find anywhere that sells it at the
moment.
One of the advantages of alloy-coloured alloy wheels is that you can
use the normal car-alloys stuff "Wonderwheels" which is pretty good.
And cheap.

I use Holts Wheel Cleaner, which says it's ok for use on painted wheels
and hasn't done any damage in the 4 or so times I've used it. Doesn't
seem to do a great deal, though :-)=

More expensive than tescos, but the food in tescos is shite, and their
coffee is piss water [1], and you can't smoke in Tescos either.

Well... phoned the insurance company yesterday, and the premium won't be
too much of an increase over the VFR. So know it just remains to:
a) Book a test ride, to find out whether I actually like the damn thing;
b) Play the two local Prilly dealers against one another to get the best
price.

I think from now on I'll just jet wash the bugger once a week during
winter, rather than leaving it all to build up ... I know you have to be
careful with jet washes, but at least it'll get the crud off ...

#9 is an honourary position, held by a cager with a beard. He started
chatting to us in the Little Thief car park while we were waiting for Darcy
and was asking how he should indidicate to bikers that the road ahead was
clear to overtake. He suggested getting as close to the kerb as possible
and flashing his left indicator, but the group concensus was that he should
just stay where he is and let us sort it out for ourselves, cos it only
confuses us when car drivers try to be helpful :)
So, there you go, a lovely day out. It didn't rain, nobody binned (AFAIK)
or got nicked (so no #13 yet) and the Little Thief waitress remained chaste
(which is no surprise, but still no #69). Mind yew, I couldn't corner for
toffee all day. I started off taking it easy cos the road was wet and then
never switched out of that mode. Jerky and slow round every soddin bend

Yeah, it's just making a very very scary noise - actual performance
and handling seem OK, but I'm worried about pushing my luck in case it
is the wheel bearing and something nasty happens (like the rear
locking at 80mph cranked over on a left hander with an artic driven by
an amphetamine-addled belgian coming the other way).

Oh yes. Well, I saw someone with glasses on a CBR6 who stopped and
asked if I was OK. I then saw Dave, not riding a CBR6. But I think we
can give him the benefit of the doubt.

As I thought, I was far too pissed in the morning from the night before
to even make it out of bed before 1.30pm, let alone ride me bike...
Call me a wuss if you like, but I couldn't even face the thought
