While it seems a little odd, it's also worth considering that the,
admittedly excellent, Rocky Horror Picture Show deviates from the
musical quite a lot in certain areas - Rocky doesn't talk in the film
thus changing many scenes quite dramatically, one song and the build up
to it is completely missing, certain scenes are split.
Assuming it can be done well, there is room in the world for a proper
film version of the musical. Of course, it's being made by Sky and MTV,
so the chances of that happening are pretty damn slim.

Well yes, but I actually have it set on silent while

That's a jolly healthy amount for a stock, road-legal 750. I had a dyno
chart for the SRAD that showed 112 bhp, IIRC.

Not so much healthy as downright optimistic. I appear to have the
world's gayest 750 with just 117.8 at the back wheel. It's running a
bit lean across the range, but not enough to bother fixing - I'll just
use it as an excuse to trade up to a thou next year.
So 10 years of development and only 6 bhp more? Bummer :(
Mind you, the SRAD gave the impression it was a fairly highly tuned
engine anyway - as we discussed before there's *no-one* home until
you're into pretty high revs; great fun when you're in the mood, a bit
of a pain when you're not. I'd still have another one though, if I had
the space, coz I reckon it'd make a banging track-bike.
What's the torque curve like on yours though? 118 bhp is ok if there's
bags of grunt everywhere.

Each of those BHP cost me 35 quid. How does yours compare?
Well, it'd gain a few horses, up to low 120s, if I sorted the fuelling
out. But the cost of a power commander and remap work is about what
it'd cost to just get a thou, so why bother?

Torque curve looks much like the one for the 7R but slightly higher
across the range. Which is odd really, given the way it feels dead at
the bottom end but mental at the top.
Funny old things, bikes.

Just hose money at it and keep going to other places with more
optimistic dynos.
Alternatively:
The first few BHP gain is easy and if something isn't working for you
then flog the bits off on Ebay and try something different. You're
running the bike on a standard end can and any fool knows that they're
as restrictive as fuck so buy either an Akropovic or a Yoshimura full
system and grab 7 or 8 BHP, a decent air filter will give you a couple
more and a set of tuned velocity stacks will compliment the
aforementioned to the tune of another couple of BHP. You'll get a used
PCIII on Ebay for about £150 and a bit of set up time will see you up
to the high 120's.
The wanked out old ZX7R we were racing a couple of years ago was
throwing out about 130 at the back wheel so sort yourself out.
In theory, but it doesn't actually feel like the 7R - it feels like a
stroker the way the power comes from nowhere, regardless of what the
dyno chart says. Weird.
The end-can it has at the moment is a road-legal Scorpion, not the
stock unit. But that's only because it's what it came with, I'd have
the original on there otherwise.
When I could just replace the whole bike with something fruitier, why
bother tarting it up? Any money I spend, I won't see back, and I don't
want to have to faff about declaring modifications to my insurers -
with my record I have enough trouble getting a sensible quote as it is.
Like I said, personal perception can be an odd thing.

But if you get the thou, won't you pay much more insurance?
But yes, agreed. Don't tart about with chickwheels, get something
silly.

I'll pay more insurance if I tell them I've been dicking about with the
engine - I looked at having the car remapped but the increase in
premium just wasn't worth it - and I tend to play it by the book where
insurance is concerned.
Best option, assuming I don't rack up another three points in the
meantime, is to wait til next year when I'll have another year's NCB on
my side. There's not a massive price difference between a K4 750 and a
K4 thou so a trade-up is entirely on the cards.
Never heard of it. Do you think I should JFGI or would I then want to
kill someone?

Actually, now I've stuck the numbers in Excel (using patented "read it
off the graph, make a table, reverse-calculate the torque, then graph
it" technique, so a margin of error about a mile wide) and squashed the
graph up a bit horizontally, there is a fairly pronounced step, just a
bit earlier in the range than I thought.
Still crap though.

Yes, but not some MP3 of a traditional telephone bell. Unfortunately,
my mobile doesn't have the plain electronic trill that my mobile ought
to have: the closest it has in its repertoire is a kind of faux bell
sound.

The lack of forced induction probably doesn't help.
54.98 at the wheel and a lovely near-vertical line as the second valve
opens.
That's more like it.

I suspect it was a little less stock than mine.
I'm still tempted by a Tyga conversion but if I was going to do it
properly I'd want to strip it and clean it up. Well beyond my
abilities. What I really need is a spare. And a second garage. And
about five years of free time.
If you are thinking of Dave Cooper heads, don't bother going to Stan or
anyone else, come see me. It turns out the guy who designed and makes
them for Dave and Stan is an old mate who I grew up with; he lived a
few doors up from me in the village as kids and we used to play
together. Same goes for their billet powervalves, he designed and makes
those too.

He thinks it was a bit high, so probably not that far off.

Already got the valves and I don't think the engine really needs any
work - other than still being a bastard to start (though it fired up
first kick this morning, only the second time that's ever happened)
it's sweet as a rose and smells as good.
It's just the cosmetics. There are rusty bits, scratches, scuffs and
stuff. It's still tidy enough really, but I might tart it up one day.

You can't put a price on owning a brown motorcycle.
Heh, many moons ago, before I got my licence, I had a GS125 which I'd
resprayed [shit] brown [1]. It was so unique, that about 4 years later
when I was in East London Poly, I recognised it and found out it had
