I have _never_ seen that many fireworks outside of an organised display
and I've been to some organised displays that had less firepower. Well
over 30 minutes of non stop whizzbanging.
It almost made up for having to listen to firecrackers and milk can
bombs[1] all day.
Oh yeah "Happy new year[2]".

I wouldn't know, but I can get my hands on a milk can and I'm sure
someone in the group can get hold of calcium carbide......

Upcoming TOG tour may turn interesting...
<Waves> I occasionally still use it in a caving lamp

Those crazy Cloggies, eh? I liked the ear defenders as a token gesture
towards elf & safety.
It all seemed a bit pointless, though, just firing cheap footballs.

The point is making very loud noises. Which I guess some will say is pointless.
The footballs act as an easily fitted, perfect fitting lid to allow the
acetylene gas to build up enough pressure.
Some people use the actual aluminium/steel milk can lids and hammer
them on with a rubber mallet. You can imagine the pressure required to
blast those off.

<Serious question>
How many people blow themselves up doing this?

Few enough to keep it legal, I suppose.

I couldn't find any videos of it going wrong, and you can bet that
people would post them, so I'm led to the same conclusion.
If Spete ever reads this, he might confirm one way or the other.

Yes, and old milk churns are so strong.
Mad bastards.
