where , if I'm reading it right, there is the possibility of my fully
comp car insurance doubling up as 3rd party for the bike, as I'm only
going to be using it for 2 weeks before having to put it away again (
work commitments = no time to play ).
However I also need to tax it, so would my 3rd party, assuming it's
there, be suitable to get this taxed at a DVLA office?
Or should I take out the solid route of getting separate insurance,
only to cancel in a few weeks, then the tax disk against that?
Anyone?
Ta muchly.

Firstly, you would only have 3rd party cover via your car insurance if it
actually states this on the Insurance Certificate. Check the wording
carefully. Mine specifically covers cars only.
Secondly, the wording on mine states "third party cover for a car not owned
by the policyholder or loaned to me via a hire purchase agreement". So the
vehicle needs to be registered in someone else's name.
Thirdly, the muppet at the Post Office may not be willing to issue a RFL if
the name on the insurance does not match the vehicle docs.

Your car insurance, if it includes cover for other vehicles, almost
certainly adds the rider "not owned by you or leased to you under a
hire-purchase agreement", which probably fucks up your plan.
Sorry.

Why not just tell them you only want to insure it for 2 weeks? I did this
after buying a new car to give me a chance to sell the old one. Cost about
£11/week IIRC. Depends whether they have a cancellation fee and what
proportion you get back if you cancel obviously.

So my moped is now on its third owner but its sixth keeper, and the way we
are using it
the keeper will be changing back and forth every six months.

My CB250RS is like that. I think it's only had 3 owners, but there are
12 keepers showing. Either that or the bloke who gave me it is a fucking
liar :-)

I see you Baby, shaking that donkey.
let's see if I get this, then:

So far so good.
> (In case the police etc wish to discuss incidents involving the

IE, directly insured, not through a 3rd party cover on my car ins?
> The keeper is not necessarily the owner.
Got that.

Got that too.
What then if I resurrected one of my brothers bikes ( I "gave" him the
6R in a moment of madness ) which is registered to him, but which I
know is currently not insured as it's been locked up in our warehouse
for 5 months?
Would he need to have valid insurance, in his own name for that
specific vehicle, even though I'd be riding it under my car 3rd party
cover?( And yes, my cover does state any vehicle not owned by me, yah
de yah )
Ta.
Gave it to you eh. Are you the new JP heir ascendant ?
Mind you, it is a stunning POS ;-)
