Start at 7am with the cot death of an 8 month old baby - completely
unexpected to the parents and a tragedy which has to be treated *sooo*
carefully. [1]Straight from that to the sudden death of a 35year old
chap[2], then straight to the suicide of a 40 year old female[3] and
then on to a bike fatal.[4]
I think I might open a bottle of wine tonight.

[1] Found this morning by parents - had the dubious honour of taking
the child from the mother after she had finished her goodbyes

[2] Looks like a natural cause massive heartattack - leaves a wife
and child

[3] Hanging - leaves a 9 year old daughter

[4] Too early to say but only one vehicle involved and the bike was
less than a week old - single male

Christ :(

I still think you'd be better off smoking dope, rather than drinking,
but I can see your reasons for not wanting to.

My phone's on if you fancy a chat, mate.

Fuck :(

Fuck fuck :(

Fuck fuck fuck :(

Just for handling those three cases and staying mentally intact enough
to be able to share them earns major respect from me.

In oblique ways I have shared a hint of what those left behind
probably feel, but handling it from your perspective and yet having to
remain detached is something else entirely.

This one leaves me with entirely different feelings, though, and I
can't rationalise why.

It's a lot less injurious to your health, and more effective as a short

Only if you don't smoke it. It makes you cough, it stinks, you end up
getting mountains of fag ash everywhere or if you do it without tobacco
you spend a fortune putting shelves up for virtually every dammed toking
machine under the sun and all you get for it is less dust in the Hoover.

This was an unusual day to be honest. To be fair the day before I cant
remember laughing so much (awaits abusive posts!) We had a chap phone
up saying he was 50 feet up a tree with a noose round his neck.
Eventually found him in the middle of woods and got the usual
ambulances, fire brigade etc on standby. Negotiators started talking
to him and it was clear quite early on that he was an attention
seeker. After 4 hours we were getting quite bored with him. Everyone
had to be silent and it was quite tense when an RAF Chinook flew
incredibly low overhead. There was a look of sheer terror on his face
and he wobbled a bit and it looked like he might decide to come down.
It was all silent again when about 75yards away one of the forestry
blokes who didnt know what was going on suddenly started his chainsaw.
I have *never* seen someone untie a rope and scramble down a tree so
fast in my life whilst screaming "Dont do it -you lot are animals".
Its probably one of those "you had to be there" moments!

I reckon more so to the parents of the baby and the kids left behind -
I might just feel a bit low - they will be feeling a *lot* lower. I`ve
got to say the parents of the baby were incredibly brave and were

The hypocrasy of this statement is so massive it's got a postcode.

Do explain, please; I'm simply *dying* to see how you justify a weak pop

Well in demand at parties he was.

I'm just about to start baking a fresh banana loaf, to Blaney's mum's
recipe, as I've done several times in the last fortnight, except tonight
I'm making banana icing too ... if anyone has the munchies, pop round :)

Tonight I'm going to make 2 shallow loaves, then sandwich them with real

BlaneyMum's Banana Loaf

5 ounces margarine (or butter)
5 ounces sugar
2 eggs
2 very ripe bananas
10 ounces flour
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
2 tablespoons milk
Pinch of salt (put into flour)
1 teaspoon baking powder (if using plain flour)

Method
Cream marg and sugar together.

Add beaten eggs, mix well.

Add mashed bananas.

Dissolve bicarb in milk and add to mixture with the flour.

Either divide into two sandwich tins and cook Gas 4 /350 degrees or
180 for 25 minutes. Or bake in loaf or square tin.

(Bear: Personally, I find it bakes best in 2 halves, else the inside
doesn't cook properly in time if you're putting it all in one loaf tin)

If two sandwich tins you can beat another banana with 2ounces icing
sugar to make a filling/topping.

(Bear: This is the additional bit I'm trying tonight)

No, it's still fucked; you have to patch Outpuke to make it work, IIRC.

Try FreeAgent or Gravity; they're both kinda spiffy.

Ah right, with you now.

> How's the cake going BTW?

The banana icing was too runny as made via recipe, so I didn't add it; I
think it needs to be a cream icing in any case, which I'll try tomorrow.

The 2 loaves of banana bread were lovely though; nice crisp outside and
a wonderful, moist, bananery interior. I've just *burp* had a couple of
slices to make sure it was ok :)

You don't have a personal veto on what's acceptable behaviour, y'know.

You really are odd - you dish out all sorts of shit to all and sundry,
and expect people to put up with it, but if one little comment catches
you at a bad moment, then that person is an "unfunny cunt". As I've
said before - if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

I'm not worried about it, I'm merely pointing out that to say "if you
can't take it, don't dish it out" to me is pompous and inaccurate in
extremis.

it's just that sort of reasonable attitude that makes me sick to my
very core.

>You, of course, are welcome to k/f either one of us, or both; you knew

I don't have *anyone* in my killfile at the moment - I'm playing with
massive use of "mark thread ignore" instead - seems to work - for
instance, if I see a thread start to go
poster-a/poster-b/poster-a/poster-b[1] I usually don't bother reading
any more of it.

[1] don't take this the wrong way, but quite often you're one of the

[2] Simes is another[3]
[3] the threads with you and he combined are quite staggering in their
lack of relevance to anyone else, btw, you should almost be

Yes well he's a cunt, that Simes ... all good, god-fearing folk should

I've got the same problem - 90% of the time I find Bear's posts at the
least amusing and diverting (which is the main reason I'm here, after
all). It's only the other 10% of the time that he bugs me. I think
we're like an old married couple - make each other laugh a bit, piss
each other off a bit, don't have sex (with each other).
