We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Dr Ivan D. Reid"
<Ivan...@brunel.ac.uk> saying something like:

>I still worry about their Australian brand, "Badger's Creek" -- there

They really wanted to call it "Bastard's Arse", that having a more
authentic ring to it.

I've just started the Laithwaites route and have a 50 quid off voucher
for the Four Seasons, making it 39.99. Any good?

We're loaded with whites (which we drink less of than reds) at the
moment, following a mixed case that I bought for Xmas as well as a
dozen or so mixed bottles as a present from my dad, so would go for the
reds only option.

However, the mixed case already mentioned had a couple of reds that we
didn't much like, so I'm loath to "save" money on wine we won't drink.

I just like having the surprise, coz I'm bound to have forgotten by the

Why? Would you drink anything and everything put in front of you?

If we come across a bottle we *really* don't like, I'll send it over!

Sauvignon blanc. I had enough of it left over from mixed cases when I

I can drink Sauvignon Blanc if I hold my nose so I can't smell it's

You are a philistine, Sir. Some of the Dôles are absolutely superband
compare well with the best of the French Rhone reds. Even Offenwein
stuff in screw-capped bottles is generally of a very drinkable nature.

No, of course there's the ultra-cheap plonk sold in plastic bottles in
French supermarkets which I might turn my nose up at.

But I'd be extremely suprised if I found a bottle in a Laithwaites
style case that I didn't want to drink.

>If we come across a bottle we *really* don't like, I'll send it over!

Definitely. Even at their normal price it's not a bad deal. All the
wines I had were good and a few were excellent. That said, I did cancel
it after a short while, mostly because I like to buy in bulk (3-4 cases)
and spread the delivery charge out IYSWIM.

Plus the £7 postage. Still, the bottles will be decent value for sub £4
each.

I just scored a load of M&S port & choccies for £6 per unit - normally
sells for £19.50. The port is only ruby but should be drinkable as it's
from M&S. I imagine the choccies must be close to their sell by dates.
None left on the website - I must've had the last 6! Back to £19.50 now.

LOL

Yes, precisely that. The Doctor said; "There's a case of wine in the
sitting room."

*Perk* "Really? Where did it come from?"

"You ordered it from Laithwaites."

"I did?"

<Thinks>

"No recollection of that. Let's ring Laithwaites..."

And they reminded me of the offer. "OK, yes, that's great. I didn't
realise three months went by so fast. No, no, keep 'em coming."
