I was looking at that a day or two ago as well. Couldn't make any
sense of it, I'm sad to say.

Oh. And now I'm wondering if I've really understood it :-)
It seems to be a diagram that illustrates the relative gravitational
pull of the planets in the solar system. I particularly like the
little side diagrams, and the illustration that you could escape
Deimos "with a bike and a ramp"

I thought that it depicting escape heights - in that its the height of
which youd simply float away.

It's an energy diagram. I.e. the Y axis shows energy, and the X axis
shows distance from the sun, on a per planet basis. Bear in mind that
the deeper you are in a gravity well, the less energy you have, all
else being equal.
