Thought I'd better check the Energica's first MOT date.

Today.

I thought it was some time in February, so it was just as well I took
the Guzzi to work today.

The husqvarna has just turned 20k miles, and still has more than a year
to go to its first MOT.

I'm not convinced buying new and then running the fucker into the
ground in the first few years is the most economic way of motorcycling.
However, at least it gets used.

That said, I've put very few miles on the Guzzi in the last couple of
years.

It is how I treated the XJR.
And I still have it 25 years later.

IIRC the 1st MOT was around 26k miles

Still weird the way my usage dropped off after the 1st couple of years,
1st year was over 12k miles.

Despite it's 3 months in the US it is still about 8k shy of the 100k.

(bad form etc)
While I have had the XJR I took the XJ900 from 11k to 110k
And (my stolen) Peg from 11.5k to 90k
1st Peg (Jean's but now mine) 1.8k to 90k

Different times and all that, and I didn't even have a car licence
until I was 22, but when I got my first brand new bike, my much loved
Kawasaki GPZ750 turbo, I did over 20k miles in the first year!

This remains my gold standard example of what a man will do for a shag

And I'm not laughing at him. I'm thinking back to my younger self,
and some of the things I did, and just nodding

Yes, one had to admire the adventurism - or maybe just desperation?

Am genuinely surprised it can hold enough fuel for a>4 hour trip. Did he have

There was some speculation at the time that the story was bullshit and
that he was a drug mule dropped off from a boat somewhere much closer.

In this sort of situation I tend to accept all options until one is
proven. Therefore, maybe he was a dropped off drug mule and an
optimistic girlfriend visitor?

If only we knew someone on the island who could find and ask her?

This hypothetical person may not wish to -

It's one thing being brave enough to race a motorcycle around the IOM,
quite another to voluntarily get involved with violent idiots.
