Bike insurance Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Why is it so so
difficult to arrange.

As I've only got one bike now I tried to get to get classic insurance
for my trusty old T140 Bonnie. Unless it's in a locked garage 24 hours
a day it appears theft is not covered. I'm not talking just overnight
but day as well. The policy was abiguous about what happens if you
drive somewhere and park it up. They don't tell you these things when
you apply. You have to read the small print.

Send it back, so lets see what Bennetts can do. Normal policy. No
problems Comprehensive done and dusted. Whoops! the policy comes
through. Look at the small print "Theft cover is not provided unless a
specified electronic security device is fitted". Thanks very much for
telling me first.

Just had a thought do insurance companies actually pay out on policies
or is this just another big joke like stocks and shares and pensions.

Insurance companies are getting very close to the tax man as my most
hated organization.

If anyone has got any ideas please shout, otherwise I'll just renew my
expensive multi bike policy

Cheers

Bob

Have you tried Carole Nash? They offered me the best classic policy for
the RD but I must admit I haven't looked at the small print! Prolly will
do now though....

That's ridiculous. Try Carole Nash.

Because they are in it to make a profit.
Really difficult since the stock market problems.

Nope insewerance don't want to pay out. If they do they WILL reclaim the
amount from you
over the next three years in increased premiums.

No, I like my tax man, I have an accountant stand between me and him.

It's called third party insurance.
It's all I can have now.
Fell off once,
Had three bikes/peds nicked in three years
oh yes and got knocked off as well.
She paid but it still stuffs up any no claims I thought I might have had.

Try Carole Nash. I have seven bikes on one FC policy. Main bike an
850cc Guzzi NOT garaged, SE England (Brighton), full NCB, 35 years old,
no points, riding since 17, Green card and breakdown cover, all for £208.

I Must come to the defence of at least one insurance company. Norwich Union
'Premier Bike' - My bonnie was insured fully comp with them , and it was
stolen from a locked garage, they said that they could not put a value on
the bike (excellent condition '67 T120)and were going to bring in an
independent assessor, within 5 weeks they had not only offered me much more
than I was expecting but I had the cheque in my paws and a new bike by the
end of the 6th week. O.k my insurance premium has leapt up, as I have lost
my ncd. but I also now have a new bike, I may well have to change
companies for financial reasons this year , but I think I was treated very
well by N.U.

Pete.

Now I'm off to buy a throw-away-camera because they don't accept
digital photos.

Cheers

...?

My policy with CN has no such restriction. The bikes are kept in the
garden protected by an unlocked wooden gate (and a FOAD chain round the
wheel, but that isn't specified by the policy).
