Get electric when you need it most-Run appliances from 12 volt or use built
in inverter-Even start your car in an emergency.

Forgive my cynicism but I'm always reluctant to buy from a Mom & Pop shop -
easily spotted because they expose their web page to the world without
bothering to check spelling or grammar. Selling through Ebay doesn't
exactly instill confidence either.

Look:

"TWIN 12-VOLT CIGARETE LIGHTER SOCKETS FOR GENERAL POWER FOR LIGHT'S,
PORTABLE T.V.'S, MOBILE PHONE'S, LAPTOP'S"

What's wrong with it?

Well, it's typed in ALL CAPITALS, with "cigarette" misspelt and no less
than four errant apostrophes. Careless.

Also suspicious is the lack of specification. It suggests 240 volt's (sic)
at up to 80 Watts but fails to give the duration.

A portable combined TV/Video uses typically 50 Watts so the suggestion of 4
hours running is pretty good. But I'd prefer the actual figures to be
quoted.

The unit *could* be quite useful but I'd like to know if it's a Chinese
import or just old stock being dumped. Lead acid batteries don't last
forever.

Finally, I'm amused by the "company" name: " NOTHINGS IMPOSSIBLE ".

I'm wondering if in fact that *should* have an apostrophe, in which case
the meaning would be quite different!

Sweet Nothings or Nothing is (Nothing's)?

Cynical Jack

like for 50quid?

I take the point about the grammar, which will be corrected. These items are
neither Chinese, nor are they old stock. They are a regular stock item. They
come with a full twelve month guarantee and have been very popular. The point
made about Ebay is misplaced. Many very large and well respected stores now
use Ebay as a shop window as we do.It is no longer simply an auction site.I
also take the point about the apostrophe in our company name. That is because
we own the website address, which does not contain an apostrophe.
As regards the point raised about the same item being available from
Argos,I would be very interested in seeing it.This unit has two 12 volt
cigarette sockets,not one.It also has a built in inverter,which is it,s main
selling point. This is not true of the one sold by Argos.
I hope this answers the points raised. If anyone has any questions
about this product or our company, please feel free to e-mail me direct at

I can imagine your last part of the advert got to some people.. 'you can
even start your car with it',
this being a motorhome group.. i.e vehicles slightly larger than cars,
anyone who has ever tried to use one of the sub £100 jump start packs to get
a van started with a flat battery will know..they're useless,
a 17 AH battery (what most of them have inside the case) can not put enough
power in a near flat 88 AH battery to do anything useful, especially if its
a diesel.. my engine takes 120 amps just for the glow plugs.. (6 of the
buggers... averaging upto 20 amps each), and then something like 280 amps
for the starter, when i tried it.. the battery was dead before the glow plug
light went out,

Sell them for light petrol cars, then yeah, ideal, (I'd personally push the
bugger tho' :),

The built in inverter wouldn't be much use to the motorcaravaning people I'd
say..most have a decent sized inverter in the van already.. hooked upto the
leisure battery, I'd rather get more than a few minutes of mains power from
a battery my self,

And it may be well that many companies use ebay to sell things.. (usually
the ones selling cheap goods, to cheap people :) but for every company
selling something on ebay..there are 10 con-men pretending to be selling
similar things,
not sure about you..but all i hear about ebay is of people getting ripped
off, i wouldn't want my company being associated with that kind of thing,

The wording of your advert was very 'better ware' catalogue type, (or even
like those JML adverts in the pound shop) slightly patronizing, aimed at
people who don't know a spanner from a screwdriver,

Anyway, who cares.. i already have a jump start power pack.. bought it for
£16.99 at makro, exactly the same one as the cheaper one sold by machine
mart for double the price... and just that..cheap,

Might it be an idea if you check products before denigrating them.
The many farmers in this area who use this product for their diesel
tractors would disagree with you, as would the five camper van owners
whose vehicles we started at a trade show we did this weekend. It is
not the product you bought or the one that is advertised at Machine
Mart. Incidentally, one camper van owner at the weekend had been
trying to start his van with the new one he had just bought through
Micro Mart without any success. I am delighted to say that we were
able to start it immediately, and he was delighted to buy one !
I am sorry that you found our advert patronising. I have to say
that I find it patronising to suggest that our customers are people
who do not know a spanner from a screwdriver. From experience we have
have had many e-mails from people who have asked many pertinent and
sensible questions, before purchasing. They are usually reassured when
we tell them that we will take the product back within 7 days if they
are not fully satisfied. That is because of the faith we have in it. I
am also delighted to say we have not yet had an unhappy customer. We
have however sold many on customer's recommendations.
