I used them some time ago for Sommerfeldt items, mail order was
excellent. Why not try John Turner from 53A Models who frequents this
group, now his service is first class!

If I'm correct, Blackwells of Hawkwell sold-out their Hornby spares to East
Kent Models some considerable time ago. My past dealings with Blackwells
offered no complaints whatsoever at that time.

As my learned colleague, Nick Gurney, has advised, John Turner (53A Models)
has always offered excellent advice to all concerned and I found his service
second to none.

I agree - If only other retailers were as good !

I ordered an EWS or FL liveried Heljan 47 from a Sussex based model shop
(advertising in RM) late in August and was informed they weren't in stock,
but I would be put onto the list and notified when they arrive in early Nov.
I spoke to them again several times in November and was assured they would
be in touch shortly. To date I've received nothing...

However, I gave up waiting in December and ordered from John Turner (53A
models), who delivered it to me with a couple of days. Needless to say, I
shall be buying again from 53A models.

Exactly - John really seems to care about his customers.

When I phoned on the Saturday before Christmas to order an EWS Class 37,
he did his damndest to get it to me before Christmas and sent it Special
Delivery as it was too late for Saturday's post. Lo, it arrived on
Christmas Eve. I don't think anywhere else would do anything other than
stick the parcel in standard post and forget about it.

Also, as I understand it, John tests locos before they go out, and would
never send an unwitting customer a damaged item.

That's the sort of service that makes me happy to pay a few extra quid
compared to some of the 'bargain' offers around. And I'm a bit of a
tight b*gger when it comes to cash too!

Plus John must have a degree in packaging. :)

And he somehow finds time to be a regular poster into several rail groups.
Although, rather concerned that in one of them he seems to have become an
avid top-poster, bless him :)

A bit of a confusing Thread heading though!
Since, as far as I am aware, John at 53A has no connection with Blackwells
and both still exist.

Although it was originally a topic related to Blackwells, it has moved on
to refer to John at 53a, and picked up 'mid stream' the title is open to
misinterpretation, unless John is emulating Morrisons? 8-)

Time for a new heading?
