A little bit of confusion exists over the whereabouts of various LNWR
coach kits but it has been simplified recently.

Chowbent purchased the etched brass/whitemetal kits from PC Models while
the litho printed plastic sides went to Wheeltappers.

Chowbent have not sold their 4mm coaches (LNWR, L&Y and MR) to Wizard
Models whose website is hosted by the Scalefour Society
www.scalefour.org.

London Road Models sell a range of etched brass LNWR coaches and Barrie
Stevenson does a few as well.

Bill Bedford used to do some, but he has sold his coach sides part of
the business to various people.

Trevor Charlton used to produce coach sides in zinc, but these are
expensive and while his list is long, they tend to be one offs.

The Wheeltapper sides are okay, it avoids all that painting and lining,
but they are obviously flat. The ends can be a pain when fixing them to
the base, and the bogies are over engineered - best replace them with
some MJTs or even Masokit bogies.

Thank you Philip,

Don't suppose you've bought any of the LRM 28 footers yet?
In fact I'm wondering if anybody has as nobody has replied to
any of my queries over the last year.

I'll have to do my review in isolation!

The man gave a shrug which indicated that, although the world did
indeed have many problems, this was one of them that was not his.

Sandy,

I am awaiting the South Wales stock, it is the reason why I drew all the
artwork for John Redrup, that is if I did the artwork for the panelling for
all the 28' Mansion House / Birmingham / Abergavenny, I would get an
Abergavenny set!

There were, from memory, 6 coaches in all, which can form something like 11
diagrams, depending upon seating arrangements, composites, etc. For
example, D120, D121 and D200 share the same side panelling, while D364 and
D363 are are two compartment Brakes, one has larger compartments than the
other so different sides. D198 and D199 share the same side panelling.

The make up of the Abergavenny sets was: D364, D300, D199, D300, D364, with
the D199 a 1st/2nd composite, and the second D300 a 2nd/3rd composite, with
the 2nds downgraded to 3rds before WWI.

There were two brake 3rds converted at Abergavenny to Full thirds, these can
be seen in Tasker's book on the Merthyr trains.
