Having a spring clean here and came across some 1939 editions
of Practical Mechanics.

What a joy to have a mag that is full of a variety of topics to
the amateur engineer, from Radio to machining.

ISTR that Model engineer was such a magazine in the 1950s,
before model boats, model aircraft, and workshop practices
etc were hived off into other revenue earning streams.

Is there really a market these days for so many mags, each with
a reducing no of advertising pages, and with editorial following
the same route?

Would we all be better off with just one mag of a rich and
varied content?
