If there are any minelab sovereign owners out there, I am interested in
getting one and I would like to know what you think of them and how they
perform.
Thanks,
Bob...

Firstly theyre a bit weighty. Dont know about the Elite but my Sov XS2apro
certainly is. Fitted with the meter it adds a bit more as well but I tend to
leave it off.

Heres something I posted to the US site last week which may be of use:

"Ive used the Sov for the past year now and it does screen out iron
well.Occasionaly you may get fooled by a large peice of ferrous which it may
not blank. The tone is constant until you sweep the iron when it nulls out
to indicate iron was ignored. Using it on a beach is pretty amazing, theres
no false saltwater signals and the depth is usually further than I can be
bothered to dig and im young and energetic."

If theres any specifics post back and ill see what I know.

Its a wonderful detector Built like a brick outbuilding !! its one of the
few detectors that does NOT false on stubble stalks in fact you can swing it
like a hammer and as its a weighty coil it flattens them with ease ! it does
not dig iron except the large pieces that overload the descrim circuit as
happens on every detector Its Probably the very best detector that you could
use on a beach and will beat any other detector you could think of
ON land its great too BUT the ONLY 2 things against it are 1 its heavy !!
BUT not if you belt mount the control box !!! 2 to get the best from this
detector you have to use what's called the 3 second Minelab swing !!!!
that's starting from your left keeping the coil as tight as poss to the
ground it should take 3 seconds to get the coil to your right !!!! NOW
that's Slow probably the slowest swing speed detector on the market but the
DEPTH will amaze you and the tiny finds will to !! OF COURSE there are
people that own them that swing them like a whites and will read this and
say Nah I find loads BUT TRUST me !!! They are never ever going to know how
deep it will go or how sensitive it can be they will only find the shallow
or LARGE targets and never know what they are missing and walking speed you
should only ever take DOLLY steps if you are walking conferrable you are
walking TOO fast !! good luck...........G
