I've been using a bluetooth Globalsat for the last 13 years - excellent, no probs and original battery! I've just looked at their UK site. Their USB stick only suggests up to Win 7. however, I remember the company being quite useful so you could ask.
Looking at the Globalsat site - they show another USB dongle which is Win 8.
Or their current Bluetooth is the BT 821 - if you have BT or use a BT dongle (which I have also done successfully with my BT353 (I think that's the number).
Using a USB cable device makes the device a little less open to knocks though....
