Can Growmore be used as a cheap alternative to nitrogen rich lawn fertiliser?

TIA

Well, the dairy farmers do :-)

I would think the growmore is fine as a grass food, but I would water it
in very thoroughly as just sprinkling it on leaves usualy causes them to
become burnt.
Mind you, this might not affect a lawn for very long as you cut it so
often!

I have used it successfully on an "ordinary" lawn for several years. As you
say, its a lot cheaper. Mind you some of the saving disappears if you need to
do a separate application of hormone weedkiller.

Like most fertilisers on lawns Growmore can burn the grass if it doesnt get
a good splash of hose or rain in the few days after application.

Hi Paul,

Apparently it can but make sure the lawn is very wet, either after a
rainfall or by hosing it as the sun will burn the grass if its too dry.

I should think so. No doubt the fertiliser companies would claim
otherwise, but grass is just a plant and needs the same nutrients.

I don't know about Growmore but according to the packet Phosphergen
can be used on grass. I have been trying it on my back lawn this
year. Still too early to know the effect yet as the lawn was in quite
a bad state to bebin with.
