could anyone suggest what is wrong with a sycamore tree that has come out in
bad case of spots. One in the garden has developed black spots on the
leaves. They seem to be on nearly all the leaves and generally only one spot
per leaf. It's not that old a sycamore probably about 10 years at the most.
Is it doing any harm? Will it go on it's own? Will it spread to any other
trees in the garden? although it is not that close to any other sycamores.
Any thoughts please, TIA.

Not a lot of help but all my Sycamores get this and, unfortunately, it
doesn't seem to do any lasting harm. Suspect it is fungal and associated
with the large amounts of honeydew excreted by the enormous numbers of sap
suckers which seem to infest Sycamores.

No. You want to chain saw it I won't complain. Get rid of it and plant
something choice, native or both. If I chain saw mine I get put in jail or
fined several thousand a tree.
