I've got a plant in my garden, Heuchera cylindrica 'Greenfinch'
<http://www.discoveredmonton.com/devonian/getgro116.html>. There are
many others named after birds, such as Pulmonaria rubra 'Redstart'
ia1.shtml and a whole raft of Aquilegias, including A. 'Blue Jay', A.
'Goldfinch' and A. 'Robin'

What are folk's favourite plants, named after birds?

Does anyone know of a garden with a collection of such plants?

I love the scented 'pheasant eye' type narcissus.
There's also a small one called Pipit.

Yes, I love the penstemons named after birds, particularly "Osprey", which
is glorious, but also "Blackbird,"
"Raven" and "Flamingo."

Cuckooflower (AKA Ladys Smock, Cardamine pratensis). Very pretty plant, my
favourite wildflower.

Not that my photo does this flower justice, but there's a picture at my
ever-incomplete website:

My favourite - Columbine. Look at the flowers hanging upside down just
after they open (and possibly a Latin dictionary :-) and you'll see
why.

Not a favourite exactly - but it pops up in various places in my garden
- Linaria triornithophera (or something similar:-)) the budgerigar
flower. Newly opening buds do look remarkably like little budgies.

I actually contacted Moles seeds this year as Rose hardy (Of Hardy's
Cottage Plants) told me the only place you could get the Songbird
varieties of Aquilegias was Moles. They have huge flowers and I've got
Goldfinch, Dove, Bunting, Magpie, Bluebird etc.

Interesting - I was thinking of varieties of cultivated plants, named by
the growers with an eye to commercial sales, yet several people have
given the "folk" names of wild flowers; which says something...

Is that "pops up" like your bloody Herb Robert "pops up"?
