shame you couldn't see the plant at all. Just the ticket saying 'please
feed me'. I echo Judith's sentiments.

You can use Turnpike's Kill rules to ensure that articles with
attachments are not downloaded to your machine.

When browsing a newsgroup, select Classify/Kill.. then click on Custom
Rule. Click on the button that says 'Longer than' and select an
appropriate number of lines. Binaries tend to mean a large number of
lines, and so will be rejected via this rule. I have mine set at 200 at
the moment, and have never had to download a stray attachment such as
this one. You can always set it much lower, to avoid long unsnipped
posts.

Gosh, thank you for that, I have learned something new and I am off to
put it into operation.

Do you know, I'd quite forgotten about that. Judith and I were newbies
together many years ago and I am sure she knew it too at one time.
Thanks, Colette.

June and Judith

Glad I could help :-) There are numerous other ways of selectively
rejecting newsgroup articles (eg crossposts, certain subjects such as AD
etc.), explained in the Custom Kill rules in Turnpike help. The Examples
page is the most useful.

didn't have to worry about that attachment, as our news-server
automatically blocks them (not Demon's)

Just thought I might let you TP users out there know (if you didn't
already) that Version 6 is well into Beta testing and will likely be
released in full by the Autumn I'd guess.

It is much improved, but also very different.
