Slugs vile habits.

I went around the garden destroying slugs with a bampoo beater. Much to my surprise,
the next morning, a lot more unwisely showed themselves by feeding on the carcasses
of the previous nights' operation. Is this normal? Why?!?

By the way, excuse me a minute.......

Probably Black Slugs. I think they look quite neat. (I also paint
RAF roundels and Maltese crosses on snail shells, which only goes to
show...)

They do indeed seem to be carnivorous !!
I leave squashed ones in place on my decking and go out and harvest a
second or even third batch before clearing up the mess!
(That's if the blackbirds and thrushes haven't done that already)

In Gods great scheme of creation there must be a reason for slugs.However, I
can't think what it is Does anyone know?

in the Spring 2001 issue of the HDRA's magazine there's a letter
describing slugs feeding on dog faeces...
