I am about to buy grass seed for a Utility/Sports lawn on clay soil. Dr
Hessayon's Lawn Expert says 'avoid a mixture containing Perennial Ryegrass
(Lolium perenne)unless the package makes clear that a low-growing, fine
leaved variety has been used'. All the packets I can find list the
mixtures, but do not describe the variety characteristics. Does anyone know
whether the following are 'low-growing, fine leaved'.

Lolium perenne score
Lolium perenne barrage
Lolium perenne barball

...or with all this rain should I be looking at Astroturf?
