Istr Reads Nursery in Norfolk both grow the fruit successfully in their
own garden, and sell the plants. They also have a good info service.
You'll find them with a websearch.

Mike's effectively said it already- but to spell it out- apricots as
grown here are normally grafted onto a rootstock. Without the
rootstock it will probably be much slower to yield fruit, and it's
a lottery what sort of apricot you'll get. The ones grown in the
UK, I assume, are later-flowering than most to avoid early
frosts.
Having said that- I think they're an attractive tree, and if you've
got the space to try it then have a go!
have fun

I thought that apricots were hardy. They grow in the mountains in
afganistan etc, and have worse winters then we have. Surely the issue is
their early flowering that is susceptible to frost damage.

sorry I was replying to the guy you were replying to - who was implying
they weren't that hardy. Apologies. Always in too much of a hurry :-)
I'm growing an apricot (bought from Marshalls'!) against a SW-facing
wall. It's got fruit on for the first time this year.
