I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a friend who is very interested
in finding out how to get hold of a plant or we believe a tree called
Frangipani, another name for it we believe is Plumeria. A lot of people
use these plants/trees in their conservatories It comes from a family
called Apocynaceae. We know also that it grows in some tropical
countries, and we were hoping someone may be able to tell us if it can
be acquired any where in the British Isles. As we too would like it for
the very same decorative purposes. Many many thanks in anticipation.

The plant is Plumeria rubra and it is in commercial production in
europe, though only small quantities ever seem to reach the marketplace
- I do not have any and have not seen any offered for sale recently. It
is sold as a houseplant and if you see it buy it no matter what the
price - I doubt you have the chance again!

Plumeria are available (and in different colours - white, pink, yellow)
from
Chessington Garden Centre
Leatherhead Rd Surrey 01372 744490
Unfortunately their mail order ones are UKP 25.00 :-(
But if you can, pay them a visit - this is where I get my tropical
plants (but I do think the prices are a bit high).
Plumeria are easy to grow from seed if you have warmth and light.
