Is it an advantage or otherwise to put blanket weed in the compost heap?

We have taken out about 3 wheelbarrow loads of blanket weed for starters and
did intend to put it on the bonfire when it dries out, but .................
??

Why on earth would it be a disadvantage? Water weeds rot down
very fast.

That's just plain bonkers. It will take ages to dry out, and will
probably rot down first!

Not bonkers Nick. It's out on the side of the pond and what was fetched out
yesterday, because it is laid out, is drying quite quickly in the hot sun.
It's not in one massive pile now.

I suspect Nick is suggesting it doesn't need to dry out at all. Being
wet is an advantage on the compost heap. I wouldn't hesitate, provided
all the aquatic bugs have crawled out.

Thanks Spider :-))

Left on the bank for the bugs to crawl back in :-)

Unless you have a lot of space to spread it out, AND there is good
drying weather, it will still take ages. But it's also bonkers to
burn something that composts down so readily, not least because
there is the hassle of drying it and then burning it, rather than
just chucking it on the heap.
