2ND REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) for the following changes
in the uk.* Usenet hierarchy:

delete newsgroup uk.rec.fishing.coarse
delete newsgroup uk.rec.fishing.game
delete newsgroup uk.rec.fishing.sea

Changes from previous RFD:

Expanded the scope to all three uk.rec.fishing.* groups

RATIONALE: uk.rec.fishing.star

In the discussion following the first RFD (to remove u.r.f.sea
only), it was pointed out that the charter of each of the uk.rec.fishing
groups refers to the others, and that therefore they should be
amended to reflect the removal of uk.rec.fishing.sea.

However, a look at the traffic in each group suggests that a more
sensible approach would be to remove all three groups at the same
time, as none of them look to be in use.

Posting stats for each group for all of 2012 and 2013 so far are:

The 9 on-topic posts in uk.rec.fishing.game date to a single thread
from summer 2012. The single on-topic post to uk.rec.fishing.coarse
is a "zombie thread" - it's in reply to a post originally made in
June 2000. The single on-topic post in uk.rec.fishing.sea was made
June 26th 2013.

I do not believe that the level of activity in any of the groups
can sustain a community even if the groups were combined. Therefore
all three groups should be removed.

uk.rec.fishing.sea are for the discussion of all aspects of UK angling.

Items should be posted to the relevant group only.

uk.rec.fishing.coarse is for the discussion of coarse angling.
Coarse fish are non-game freshwater fish (i.e. other than Salmon,
Trout and Sea-trout).

Advertising

Personal advertisements for tackle etc. are welcome, but should be
brief. Short (less than 20 line) announcements of events relevant to
fishing are permitted; blatant off-topic or commercial advertising is not.

Binaries

Binaries are not permitted on this group, however references to FTPable
material and Web URL's are welcomed.

Salmon, Trout and Sea-trout.
