Hi all,
Does anyone have any information about the Stanley Dam in Paisley - ie what,
if any fish are there and who owns the fishing rights.
My dad says he remembers fishing there as a boy for pike and I was just
wondering if it would be worth trying these days.
Thanks in advance,
Gary Vandal

It contains Pike, Perch, Trout plus a few Eels.
As for the fishing rights, I'm not sure now but it used to be NO
Fishing at all as it was a stand by water supply for Paisley

I think everyone in Paisley has fished it :-) and been thrown off :-(

Hi Gary,

I've tried asking about Stanley, no one seems to know what's happening
with it. Found out though it was netted many years ago and the pike
moved to the Barrhead dams (vaguely remember hearing about that)
probably the same pike we netted out of the Barrhead dam when they
drained it. We used to get the small perch for livelies out of the
overflow where it goes under the road, then go to the other end and go
through the fence at Camphill School. Never did very well with only
small fish to 8lb to our rods, had a low double out of nearby
Durrockstock dam along with a lot of jacks.

btw if your still looking for your 20lber, there is one in the Linvale
stretch of the canal between Duntreath Ave and the Canal bridge towards
the shopping centre, I've seen her a couple of times over the last few
weeks.
