Hi

I want to insure my horse trailer and I wondered if anyone had any
views/experience on my options. I will tow it with my landrover for my own
private use. My horse is not insured (except for public liability) as he is
22 years old. The company that insures my house, car, landrover and livery
yard tells me that while attached to the landrover it is covered by that
insurance, but not for theft. The policy they offer covers the trailer for
theft, but not when attached to the landrover. As I understand it, if I
wanted to hitch up ready for an early start, or park by the common to go for
a ride, I would have to leave the trailer disconnected from the landrover.
Is this normal? I would have a wheelclamp on whenever we were parked.

I would welcome any advice

Thanks

Sue

Try talking to the NFU for insurance - they are pretty good with Land Rovers
& trailers.

Personally, I do not insure the trailer separately. It is covered third
party on the Land Rover policy in case I reverse over anyone and, if it gets
pinched, then I am just unlucky (it looks like a mobile tin barn anyway -
anyone spotted that Rice trailers seem to be made out of old 'up and over'
garage doors??)

I have mine insured with the NFU, they're very good and reasonable too.
