mate Ferdi hasn't forgotten that for 8 years of his life i.e. 6 years ago,
he was in proud possession of ........dangly bits....... and has this vague
memory that girlies have to be rounded up and kept away from any other poor
unsuspecting gelding. Not that he can actually remember what to do when he
has rounded them up, but he had a nasty tendency to run Wellie into the
fence when they did share a field with girlies. So down the track they go.
Wellie doesn't know what girlies are for anyway.
Yes we had a good time watching Carl Hester yesterday thanks, although the
sound system wasn't brilliant. I wish I could get Wellie that soft. - Despite
our fears no overbending in sight. I thought I came back quite inspired, but
having just
attempted a 1ft clear round (comment from organiser "Wellington's in
steeplechase mode today") followed by a very heavy and over-forward hack
(trotting) I'm feeling a bit despondent. Help, someone! - how can a match
between a "wannabe classical rider who sees anything except a french link
snaffle as her personal failure" with a "19 year old ex hunt horse big
strong warmblood, possibly a Sherman tank in a former life, lots of trust
for aforementioned rider but bugerawl respect" ever not end in
tears? It nearly did today. Enough whimpering, I'm in depressed mode
today - enjoy Impey and have a nice weekend. (latter now not valid as computer
playing bugerawl to add to my depression - it won't be the weekend by the time

Wellington (who called sweetly when she got to the yard this morning so she
put the french link bridle on)

And off they drove into the distance with a wave of a hoof
or two. I then tacked up Impey and went for a ride then a 1/2 hour lesson.
It was then time to put him out in the field, I knabbed the new owner and
horse, called Buster and put them out together........
This was the bit I was dreading...
Well it was as if Prudence never existed, he was following Buster around,
grazing an occasional look around and that was it, all day, I kept checking
on him, but he was fine, just like everyone said he would be!
Maybe i over did it on the Equicalm and honeysuckle!
Anyway I am so pleased and hope he stays settled.
Just think i have only one horse to look after, what am i going to do with
all my time now?

of tears were expected.
Zilch, nowt, Ethan is fine (still has three others for company)
Hermes got kicked out with his three new, gelding buddies and they all got
on famously. That was until I drove off and he began calling to the trailer
(what a heal I felt!)
The interesting bit will be to see how the pecking order resorts itself now

grown up and left home! They each got both barrels when they tried to
re-attach to the milk bar when they returned. Sparkle accepted it, but

If you have gentle hands then very, very few bits will be harsh in them. If
he's taking the piss in the french link then it would be kinder to you both
to find a bit that he has a bit more respect for. I'm not suggesting that
you nip out and wrap a bit of barbed wire around his bit! Just try to see
if you can find something he works with a bit better.
A 19 year old ex-hunt horse is unlikely to have a mouth as soft and delicate
as a little petal and after all, it is down to him whether he listens to
your polite half-halt or ignores you and gets a sharper one. He can make
his own decision.

with. It's so easy to be hard on oneself and 'soft' on our beloved
horse. I know in my heart of hearts that not 100% of Wellington's
actions are due to my naff riding. He will stop most politely when I'm
out with his smaller, slower friend and will wait for him to catch up -
but schooling is something else, I guess I'm less incentive than his
friend. He's back in the hanging cheek snaffle for a while, which he
used to go quite well in (so well I thought everything was sorted, so
thought we could 'progress' to the french link).
By the way, ignore what date my pc says this was sent - it's in some
sort of time warp at the moment.

I didn't mean the weather when I said we'd regret it I meant the mud and boy
didin't I just! Bugs must have found every puddle going. He was groomed to
within an inch of his life in the morning and this was obviously his way of
getting back at me. Looking for a grey horse in the field is not of much use
when he's maserading as a dark bay!!!
Hack was lovely but then we don't have any raod work as 150 acres of off road
riding to choose from.
Have booked myself into the combined training comp on the yard on the 20th and
also booked a lesson with a different instructor for next Sun so it should be
interesting to see how he thinks Bugs goes.
Looking forward to Friday. Will attempt to keep you some seats so that we can

Jack had a bit of mud, but here the land is chalk. So not much around
even after Mon/Tues.
The good thing, is it dries up quick.
Down side is it dries like wet talc.
Not good on a Black/Bay, but good on a Grey! They never look muddy.

I had a brill lesson tonight.
I have managed to get Jack going nearly 90%, in a nice rounded outline,
but now letting him go lower. He works much better for that, and now
keeps a nice rhythm.
It has improved so much that, it was my turn to be worked on.
To help Jack, I had started to shape like a banana, and my legs were
being pushed forwards.
It was really good, I even clicked with keeping my shoulder back and
sitting more relaxed, deeper.
What made sense was when Jackie said widen your chest, this clicked
better then shoulder straight!
Some how the terminology was better for my brain.
It is still difficult though.
Widen your chest, bend your elbows, soften your hands, heels back, heels
down, widen your chest, BREATHE!! RELAX!!!!
What all at the same time.... Help!!!
No really was good.

house and there is also a pub directley oppostite, so no shortage of

Had a jumping lesson tonight, I was so pleased with him we jumped about 2 foot
3 ! Last year he was just crashing through jumps scattering poles every where
but this year he seems really keen to jump and cleared these by a long way
<big grin>.
By the way there is a tack sale in Mill Hill on Saturday 20% + off rugs riding
ware etc. It's from a genuine tack shop (even if it's held in a church hall

still haven't come,but I rang the ticket line today and they said not to worry
as the tickets are numbered and they said just to say my name at the door as
they have a complete list of who's bought at the door. I will still meet

Oh was just starting to think that either the phantom poster had eaten you or
else you had diappeared off the face of the earth! Tickets have still not
appeared but girl from the MIJ Promotions says she will have duplicates at the
box office for us so I will collect and wait outside from 7.15pm onwards to
meet people
