so many british riders withdraw after dressage. nowonder we had sucha poor
show in the top 20!
valid or given that the ground didn't seem to cause any bother what are
peoples thoughts? were the british riders overly causcious?

It seemed clear that the horses that did go around where those that were
particularly light on the ground. The few that were heavier were obvious and
seemed to make more weather of the ground. Those who were interviewed were
of the opinion that, for their horses, with their type, with their history
or whatever, the ground was too hard.
That is a completely valid decision to me, they had nothing to prove. Those
that are going up for the teams are all pretty well settled according to
Lucinda Green. The British team selectors put no pressure on them to go
around - its arguable that the Germans may well rue their decision but they
will not know for weeks if not months.
6 weeks without rain in April is un-heard of. I think they all did the right
thing for them
It was great to see fit happy horses in the showjumping. Only one did not
make it through the vetting.
It would not have been nice to have had numerous 'off' horses that morning
and riders regretting their decision.
