Hi

I'm looking for stationary engine public liability insurance for the
summer rally season?

Any ideas?

Do you mean insurance for your own engines whilst on display? If so, I get
mine by joining a vintage engine club and it comes as part of the membership
package. All for £12 per year. The club you join depends upon where you live
and how involved you want to be.

Hello Ian, how are the jets? ;o))

http://staff.bath.ac.uk/ensegb/wessex.htm

is the URL for the busy and active Wessex Stationary Engine Club - must have
been sixty odd people and twenty odd engines out at the crank up last
Sunday. I've been a member for only two years, but have been to quite a few
of the events and they are a very pleasant group of people.

This is the events list for this year.

April 21st Mells Daffodil Rally
April 28th Guest speaker - Mr Charles Boyack, a
presentation about the "Red Arrows Display Team"
May18th Crank Up at the Radstock Mining Museum
May19th Guest speaker Jack Foord, searching out "Old
Somerset".
May 28-31st Club Display at the Royal Bath & West Show
June 30th Guest speaker - Robin Jacob on Mendip Quarry
Railways
July 28th Crank Up at the Court Hotel, Chilcompton
August 9th/10th Annual Club Rally at Clutton Flower Show ( See
header above)
August 18th Rally Autopsy and Table Top Auction
August 31st Mendip Mayhem Crank Up at Brian Fears Garage
September 7th Visit to Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford Somerset
(Yes, there are some stationary engines, I found four! EGB)
September 29th Guest Speaker - Arthur Clapp A talk about "Toys".
October 4th Skittles and Supper evening. Venue to be decided
October 18th Winter Engine Jumble at Cheddar Rally site,
Winchester Farm. This venue is in some doubt and may be changed, possibly to
East Cranmore at the Station.

October 27th Hon Life Member Eric Brain - "An illustrated
History of the Bristol Wagon & Carriage Works Co Ltd"
November 24th Guest Speakers - Rosie & Jim "Up the cut" - A talk
with slides about "A Canal Trip"
December 7th Nunney Catch End of Season CrankUp
December 27th Mince Pie Crank Up ( Venue to be decided)

On the insurance front, if you are intending to exhibit a gas turbine, it
occurs to me that an insurer might expect you to say so under the rule of
uberimae fide

Hi All,
For the insurance you need you could join our Society:-
The Farm Machinery Preservation Society Ltd.
The cover gives you £5.000.000 public liability and is ok for any number of
engines/tractors at any number of events. You will also recieve a magazine 4
times a year and if you happen to be within a sensible distance of Halstead
in Essex you could attend our monthly metings. We always have a guest
speaker and overall it is a well established club. ( formed in 1968) with
300+ members.
The contact for membership is:-
Norman Wasteney, Wood Hall, Chignall Smealey, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 4SU.
sae requested.

John M Southall.

Gentlemen,
Nice to know that the FMPS is still going strong, I used to be a regular
member when I lived in Great Cornard (Sudbury) and the Rally's were good in
the area also.
