Typical cowardly cyclist picking on an elderly lady.
Too gutless to pick on a man. Cyclists are well known for picking on lone
women. Utter low life cowardly scum.
The van driver deserves a medal for doing what he did.

This is your "hero"? Why did he get a jail sentence?

Newcomb was given a 21 month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

He was banned from driving for 12 months.

The judge ordered him to pay £1,000 compensation to the assault victim and £2,075 compensation to the householder, whose wall and vehicle were damaged in Dorset Avenue.

He did not go to jail.
How difficult is that to understand?
Have you read the comments on the article? Cycling scum are hated.

These extracts give a better impression of the facts:

QUOTE:
Gary Short, mitigating, said there was a background of anti-social
behaviour by the "victim" [a fairy-cyclist] towards an 85-year-old woman
neighbour and her disabled son, in his 50's [the real victims].

It involved verbal comments, bullying and throwing items into the
pensioner's garden. [ ... ]

Newcomb's uncle, who lives on the same street, was said to have
witnessed the alleged bad behaviour [by the fairy-cyclist] and told the
defendant about it.

[ ... ]

The defendant's uncle gave evidence, saying the elderly woman neighbour
used to be fearful of going outside because of alleged anti-social
behaviour from the victim of the assault [the fairy-cyclist] - but her
situation had improved since the complainant [ie, the fairy-cyclist, the
so-called "victim"] had moved away.
ENDQUOTE

The real victims [the 85 year-old-woman and her disabled son] seem to
have come out of it alright. That's something to be celebrated, as I'm
sure we all agree.

This guy is a hero, not a criminal. Whilst the police are too scared and
too lazy to stop crimes like the original one, people need to sort it
themselves.

The guy [fairy-cyclist - Ed] who got beaten up for bulling an elderly

in this article for my liking.

Legend.. Someone needs to set up a donation fund so this chap hasnt got
to pay out his own pocket. Laughable that the bully panics seeing a

The judge should have given him a sentence what he would give a woman,
case dismissed.

Sounds like a thousand pounds well spent to me. What's laughable is the
police monitoring the situation.

Fair play to him, about time people made sure justice is served, the
useless procescution service requires a long overdue reform

leicesterlad2018

Suprise suprise the bloke does right by standing up for a neighbour but
ends up the one in trouble whist the so called victim has been
terrorising an elderly woman and disabled child and gets away with it.
The law always seems to protect the crooks

This man is a Piller in the community totally should be awarded but this
country as always is backwards,,,me and my mate work in Paris 25 years
ago and my mate bully an teenager that was causing trouble there was
both pulled into the police station and kept for 3 days until it was
sorted as Paris and other city have ZERO on bulling,,

so what did the police do, over what the elderly son had to put up with.

He might have gone over the top, but largely think he did the community
a good service. It is inevitable, with Police cuts and their poor
priorities, that more vigilante action will be taken. This is a sign of
things to come.

The fairy-cyclist had to pay the elderly victim, and her son, £1,000?

That's a start at least.
