I'm a teenager, and i'm interested in painting watercolour pictures. I know
alot, because I have watched programs, and I have several books and I am now
starting to paint.

I bought some browm gummed paper to put around the edge of my watercolour
paper, I used it and done what it said to do in one of my books. Now I have
finished my painting, I have got the gummed paper off of the board, but I
can't get it off of the watercolour paper.

I thought I might have to cut it off, but I wasn't sure!!

can anybody help me, even if this is a dum question

I haven't stretched paper for a long time but as far as I can remember
you cut the gummed paper from your painting and don't try to remove it.
I was also taught to use alternate sides of the board for stretching as
the board is put under stress and can eventually bend.
Glad you're using water colour, its a lovely medium.

Yes you have to cut the gummed paper off - I always cut it straight
off the board with a sharp scalpel or craft knife (if you want a
straight edge use a steel ruler not a plastic one).
I hope your picture turned out well - I never mastered the art of
'wet-work' myself - I'm a fiend for detail and watercolours, by
themselves, aint great for it. (if you want to see what I mean I have
some of my paintings and sketches on my homepage at:
http://www.computerpages.co.uk/nexis/conceit )

Good luck

It is possible to remove the gummed paper by laying strips of wet kitchen
paper over it, leaving it to soak through for 10 minutes or so then peeling
it off. You should wipe any remaining gum off with a damp sponge. ...if you
go to my website... http://www.qldnet.com.au/~jlovett and go via materials >
paper you will find some more info

Good luck
