Possibly - there's one at work (one of the workshops was doing felting
and used it for mixing coloured tops as well as carding fleeces). If you
don't have any luck I'll see whether they'll sell it when I go back after
next week.
Very handy - I have my Mum's 'cos she's not spinning any more.

Nor me! But I opted to join the spinners dyers and weavers guild and get to
hire one for a pound a week. There is a web site that puts spinners and
weavers in touch - it has second hand wheels/looms etc on it. Unfortunatley
I don't seem to have marked it can now can't find it :( Would love to know
again....just incase I ever have the money for a loom.

Thanks for the information Liz. I will do a search for it and let you know
if I do find it:)

Let me know if you come up with one - 'cos I don't know when I'll be back
in work to see whether they'll sell the one there.

Just about!! Fortunately Dad is immensely practical (told the Social Worker
that it was no good trying to assess his needs this week "come back in a
week or so when I've had time to find out")
Do you know anyone who'd buy an Ashford spinning wheel (must check which
model, it's not the upright)? It was Mum's and I've not got round to
using it, in any case I think I'd still prefer the one I picked up a few
years ago when on holiday in Devon.
I can bring it up to Scotland sometime in September (all being well) as
Child is going to post grad in Newcastle, won't be able to fit all the
"essential" requirements in her Ka so I'll be taking the rest, continuing
up to Edinburgh, across to Irvine and up to Sutherland and Caithness
(if I can fit all that into one week).
Oh my!!! What a man:)

I don't know a another person here that spins:( It would be wonderful to be
in a community of spinners. If you know what you want for it we could ask
in RCTY. I know there are a few peope there who have only drop spindles.

You might like to drop in for coffee when you are passing if it is
feasible:)

Although I must confess that I do very little spinning nowadays
especially since I took up beadwork.
Still it is nice to know that my wheel sits in the corner ready for me
to sit down at it for a while. Unfortunately I have gone off knitting
and crocheting so I would give away any yarns I produced.

I have never actually made anything for myself yet. I bought it when I was
working with children and I used to have workshops. Once they got the hang
of the drop spindles they were allowed to spin on the wheel. Of course I
used to do most of it but at least they could take away their 'own' work and
knit a little something with it:) I am on not working with the children now
and I intend to make something for myself:))
I have some nice fleeces awaiting me when the time is right and can I get
down to collect them. No prizes for guessing what I will be doing next
winter:))

I'd be interested, depending on how much you want for it? I used (about
20 years ago) to have an Ashford wheel which my dad put together from a
kit for me but in the process of moving from Australia to England to
America to Australia to England it got "lent" to a friend to take care of
and I've now lost touch with her. I've been talking about getting another
wheel for at least 10 years!

Sukie,
You can try 'The Loom Exchange' - www.theloomexchange.co.uk - they
have a second-hand wheel section.

Thanks Clare, just who I would have suggested - alternatively your local
Spinners Weavers and Dyers Guild. They often have wheels for sale/hire and
they can check them over for you. I brought a very nice Haldane second hand.
