Since the release of his multi-million selling debut album Born to do it back in 2000, Craig David has grown as an artist and seen off many of his fellow counterparts from the early UK Garage scene. On the opening track, which shares the album's title, Craig has layed down a seriously heavy Hip hop loop with Craig mixing rapping with singing. The album has a real retro feel mixing old skool Hip hop with Funk but still with a big Garage influence.
Here is an artist that hasn't lost sight of what makes a good album, each track complimenting the next making it well balanced from start to end. Slicker Than Your Average is an urban fusion of hip hop and soul but there are plenty of faster dancey type tracks with a real urban feel, in fact lots of urban sounds throughout making you wonder what sounds are on the album and what's happening outside. This album has all the trademarks of a classic and definitely better than your average.
