Juliette, I'm having trouble with No 9. Are you sure this hangs in the White
House and not the Capitol building?

Number 9 - The one about the painting hanging in the White House, like
taurus I have done the virtual tour and been in every room - I know
that place better than Monica Lewensky, but to no avail. I have an
*idea* who it might be but it doesn't really fit the question.

And yes, I am desperate for some entry forms......

It seems you have all been struggling with question 9!!
Up to now no one has actually given me the answer
that I was looking for and as a result have decided to
void that question. Please send in your entries omitting
the answer to question 9. If you still want to have a bash at it
this is fine. All will become clear on Tuesday!

Good Luck!

Well all I could come up with was John Trumbull, but I don't think
that was right either - I'm glad she's decided to scrap that question
- at least I'm in with a (remote) chance now :o)

Hi Norman - just out of interest, can you remember how you found the
answer to no. 9? I put every conceivable version of 'July 4th
painting' in google and still didn't manage to come up with the right
answer.

I bet you're gonna tell me you knew the answer anyway aren't you? :o)

No Spyda, I didn't know the answer.

I tried Google on "july 4" painting "white house" - with no luck.
I then abandoned "white house"
Then, because "july 4th" produces so many hits, and because there is
sometimes different spellings on questions and websites, I tried
"july fourth" painting

The 12th hit was
http://www.unicover.com/EA1CAIJ1.HTM

Since this was such a famous painting (not that I'd ever heard of it),
I went with it. I don't think I bothered to make the White House
connection, after that.
