So I emailed the site as follows:
"May I query the outcome of the Funeral Parlour Coffee Mug competition which
I entered where the question asked was 'How old was L.S. Lowry when he
died?'
You have given the answer as 89, but in fact he did not ever reach the age
of 89 - he was born on 1st. November 1887 and died on 23rd. February 1976,
making him only 88.
I entered the competition with the correct answer i.e. 88 - I presume that
those who won entered the incorrect answer of '89'?
and they have replied within 15 mins as follows:-

You are in fact correct.we goofed!
I guess when you run as many competitions as we do, some time or other we
were going to mess up one.
