Crimping rope ends

I buy rope for our climbing club, usually 200 m drums,
which I cut up into 50 m lengths.

I had a bit of to & fro with a rope seller who sold me
some Sterling rope some time ago, and it turned out to
have a bad case of sheath slippage, resulting in core
lumps that made it hard to get through the ATC. He reckoned
I cut it incorrectly (I have a melting cutter), and the
proper way is to crimp it. Are there tools for this, for
nylon rope? Where?
