Hi,
I have a MkIV Golf with remote key (key flips out from body when a button is
pressed) - anyone know how to get into the remote unit to replace the
battery.
Looks like a tool specifically designed is required...
Maybe only a trip to the dealer will resolve a flat battery on these units.

No special tool is required. Flip open the key, then just grap the fob with
both hands, one at each end, and pull it in half. Pull in the direction
(and opposite direction obviously!) of the key. It comes apart along the
line that runs round the middle. Then, once it's apart, on the end with the
keyring (not the key), the side opposite to the buttons lifts off if you
pull up under the ridge where the key would normally fold. The two
batteries can then be taken out and replaced.

You will need two CR1620 3V Lithium button cell batteries. Any
probs/questions, please ask.
