Wolksworld stinks generally, we all know that. It has a shitty, cliquey,
snobby attitude to the VW scene and gives off a bad (and false) impression
of what VW owners are like.

But...

Are the classified ads worth the money? Has anyone sold a car this way?

Hi Sam,
I have never had any luck with Volksworld in any way. But Flat 4, (now Total
VW), is a different matter. It seems to be an enthusiasts mag. Also advertising
is FREE!!!
I have( in the past) put an advertisment in the magazine by Email and it was in
the following months mag.
Good luck

I regularly buy Volksworld and find it quite interesting, I'm looking for a
camper and use it as a guide as to what I can expect to pay for similar
codition T2's in my area.
One thing that would help me is to know how long adverts had been in. I'm
never very sure if its worth calling as invariably the distance is great and
the by the time I get the mag the best are gone...........

You Tart
The only thing Volksworld acts snobbery about is the amount of dangerously
built shit they have had to put with over the years.
Get your head out of your arse.

No, Volksworld have on a number of occassions in the past stated they will not
feature a car because it is watercooled, but now it is almost flooded with New
Beetles which as we all know are Golf Mk4. All the cars in there are perfect,
there is almost nothing that is a daily driver and nothing with a mark on it
let alone looking used.
That is why I will not be resubscribing to it. Total VWs will get my money from
now on.

Gaz you're right in that VolksWorld has on a number of occasions said that
they will not feature water cooled cars, but as we all know they are now with
the NB. You're also correct in that VolksWorld will only show "Trailer
Queens." That's why I like Total VWs "Buffer Zone" (they did keep this
section in the new mag., didn't they?). It shows what most people drive: old
beat up cars that thhey truly do love. But, as there is not much to read in
the way of aircooled VW mags. here in America I take what I can get.

VolksWorld do show MAINLY trailer cars but my friends buggy was featured in
the last issue and took Best Offroad at the VolksWorld show and after he
gave me a lift 70 miles home in it I can guarantee it is not a 'trailer
queen'. It was an absolute blast! At last the chance to go in a VW that
corners and can outdrag just about any thing else on the road but really
cold. The NB's are definitely taking over but maybe that's just the build-up
to a new mag?

Yeah, i can understand the appeal of Total VW, eg normal cars.
but doest it get a bit boring? its ok in the short term, but surely you want
to
read about top show cars as well. dunno about you, but i buy a hifi mag to
look at what whats new and what i can aspire to, i dont want a mag thats
shows
the one ive already got?
I think youll find that Total VW will realise this and start to feature more
show cars.

Most show cars do get used alot anyway. Homer gets some serious abuse, lots
of miles, and one smashed up front end to prove it. Most friends with show
cars do
the same, but just spend alot of time keeping them clean and up to scratch.

We must be unusual among Classic car clubs; I saw an RS Turbo club advert
for its show, and they said there was plenty of space for trailers and
transporters!

lol!

must admit i trailed Homer to the first few shows cos it wasnt finished,
though its always been driven since. Doesnt stop anyone slagging it as
a trailer queen though! mmm, the joys of driving a show car!

i must admit its enoying at a show when you overhear people saying
"yeah, its nice, but he never drives it!".......Bollocks.....
I dont see the point in building a car and not using it.

Mikey.

Mikey,
I totally agree, cars are for driving. Mine is the Buggy previously mentioned
by Nigel Firth and nobody believes it is driven regularly and hard. Yes, it does
have a trailer, but the Bug tows it and doesn't ride on it and , yes, the car
gets hammered on the drag strip. Since it was featured in the last issue of
Volksworld everybody seems to think its a pure show car. WRONG! ( and I have the
stone chips to prove it!).
I guess the difference with us guys on the show circuit is that we are complete
anoraks when it comes to polishing time!!

Although show cars are great to see, they should be used, Whats the point
of building a hot engine if your not going to piss the RS brigade off and
showing off the shiny paintjob to all the totty around town. I dont know
how you do it Micheal, I showed my 73 GT Bug and ended up missing most of
the show keeping an eye on it all day so it put me off showing it. Keep up
the good work.

Nick,

Youve just gotta spend the time to fix em afterwards!

Got homer out of the garage on saturday, reved the nuts of it,
dropped the clutch, spun the wheels a little, engine bounced around a
bit and broke the hidden carb linkage! Arse! But left some nice rubber
on the road! Anyway, all fixed again now, time to go and play again.

Dont be scared, I was for first couple of years, but there built for fun!

PS, my new baby should be out for Bug Jam, should see some strip action!
