A friend of my parents bought a Dark blue Cortina 1.6L reg I Think of
dle 171t (?) n , the guy from the champions was the dad in the comedy,
Martin clunes was the son

It was hilarious s the car appeared in a couple of comedies (not just
clunes)n , the friends groaned whenever the car was treated badly , they
never got a bonus for the car appearing in the TV just loss for it
being thrashed

At least it would be cheap, but still money wasted when PHP finally goes
out of favour.

Strikes me that someone with too much time on their hands could set up a
database of car registrations spotted in old films, magazines, etc.
Shouldn't take more than about ten years to populate it, then anyone
could do a search and see if their old banger happened to be parked in
the background of On the Buses or whatever.

Come to think of it, I wonder if ANPR type software is available to the
general public. If so, you wouldn't actually need to watch the stuff
yourself.

Been done, well without the registrations bit:

Since a lot of filming uses fake plates, the registrations don't make
that much difference anyway.

I doubt if they bothered with fake plates back in the sixties and
seventies, and certainly not for background vehicles or passers by.

Finding old aircraft is usually easy. I was surprised to be able to find
a Hercules and a helicopter used in Dr Who on t'web simply by typing
their tail numbers into Google.

Well the film makers of the Queen should have contacted 'Registration
number search results'
(http://www.speedyreg.co.uk/results.php?search=ELZ+11), they have ELZ
11 which would have been a nice extra on her vehicle.
