Hi,

Just wondered if anyone had anything good or bad to say about 'em.

I got my renewal through from my existing insurer, and the usual crowd
of insurers are about the same (1999 Omega Elite 3.0 Estate, Fully comp
+ Prot NCB for my wife and I, ~£600-700), however, elephant are quoting
around £450!

Comments welcome.

Cheers,

Karl

I use them and have no complaints - but I haven't had to claim. I have
claimed with Admiral (their parent company) and they were superb.

They're a bit impersonal - all contact is by email/web or via premium rate
phone call but they are very cheap.

Admiral without the customer services dept. Am led to believe they're not
too good with claims.

I use them and haven't needed to contact them. My insurance is expensive
due to some untimely accidents and some points, but their quote of just
under 2 grand was better than the 2700/2800+ with direct line, tesco and
a couple of others who the best of a *lot* of companies !!

Set the quote up online and spoke to a human to actually process it,
just so I could be _sure_ the cover was starting when I expected.

Received the newsletter copied below a few weeks back - the 50p pm to
speak to a human has been dropped (although no idea how fast / if these
numbers are ever answered...touch wood)

They're far and away the cheapest we could find - and the accelerated no
claims bonus idea can only be a good thing. Not had to claim - but we're
only on 3rd P/F'n'T anyway

Excellent value for my son. Saved £180 on his Rover 827 and up to fully comp
from tpf&t.
I also changed to them and saved quite a bit, but now find that they will
charge £50 if I need a new windscreen. The Royal was free. Also (free with
Royal), a charge of £37.75 for a Green Card for 40 days- the maximum time
away they cover. So it's saved me less than it first appeared.

Just did their online quote, they came in £100 more expensive than Direct
Line with £250 excess and unprotected no claims. With £150 excess and no
claims protection, which is what I currently have, they were £250 more
expensive. Ho hum.

They seem to go out of their way to be deliberately insulting when
coming up with a settlement figure if your car gets written off - as
in over a grand less than what the car is worth when the car is only
worth Ł1500 in the first place. It took months of letters and calls
to get back a decent amount of money from them.

What you pay is a reflection of the service you get in their case.

Their online quote for our other car (98/R 306 GTi-6) was the same as
everywhere else. No savings :(

Can only be a good thing if you stay with Elephant... other insurers may
still ask how many accidents and when and how long have you had without
claiming. I've heard Elephant's renewal quotes are not usually as
competitive as the initial "get the foot in the door" quotes.

I signed up for the full year meself!
