Hi,

title says it all. I'm resident abroad but have kept my UK
registered car (in the UK). It's no longer insured (still
taxed though) but I'll be back 4 or 5 times a year. It's likely
I'll be back in around a year and it's a good car so I don't want
to sell it. Nor do I want to be driving around in a RHD vehicle
in a LHD drive country so I didn't bring it abroad with me......

Is there any way of getting limited or temporary cover for my
visits home (likely to total less than 20 days/year with mileage
around 7k max) or do I have to take out a full years insurance at
the absolute lowest level? (I still have my UK license).

I'm at present resident in Korea and keep a limited mileage policy on my
car. I found that if I cancelled my insurance for over 2 years I'd loose my
no claims bonus and on a Nissan 300 ZX Twin Turbo that's a substantial sum
of money.

Does the 'resident in Korea' bit affect the cost of your
insurance?

I have a feeling I'm going to have to end up taking out a
normal 1 year policy on my car since for 10-18 days use a year,
a hire car would end up costing me more than the insurance would.

The car is garaged when not in use which is the pertinent question on the
insurance proposal form, so they have not been informed that I'm out of the
country.
