Anyone got any suggestions for a suspension upgrade for my X1/9?
Heavier/lower springs, Koni or Spax or KYB shocks, front or rear swaybars?

Be very wary of going too stiff on the front, with the springs,or the
bump rate on the shocks.Mid/rear engined cars,on the road, are horrible
to drive with very stiff front ends,as the weight transfer feel is
lost.Braking modulation is hard, and corner entry understeer
dramatically increased.Tread carefully.

I put Koni's and 185/60x13 tyres on my 85 VS about 8 years ago and have
never felt the need to do anything more extreme. The standard setup is so
much better in corners than most hot hatches that a far better investment is
more power so you can keep up on the straights. You should get a FOUR wheel
alignment done as the rear toe is adjustable and has a considerable effect
on the car's stability.

Good wheels/tyres and adjustability, especially around the rollbars.
Lightweight mid-engines are more about adjustment and getting it right
than they are about simply making everything in sight stiffer and
lower. The X1-9 already handles pretty well and it's hard to make it
better without risking making it worse !

I'd start by looking at the brakes. Bigger wheels (if you're going
that route) and then switching to Tarox or Brembo disks & pads. I'd
also put an adjustable balance valve inside the cockpit, or twin brake
masters and a balance bar.
