I have a 1998 Fiesta and the manual says:
"it is located in the side panel in front of the left hand door.
To gain access, remove the plug using a flat-bladed screw driver.
The button will be raised when the switch is activated."
"RESETTING THE SWITCH
* Turn the ignition switch to position '0'
* check fuel system for leaks
* if no fuel leak apparent, reset the switch by pushing in the button
* Turn the ignition switch to position 'II'. After a few seconds return
the key to position 'I'
* make further check for leaks in the fuel system."
Hope this helps
Richard
BTW the manual was revised in 1997 but i doubt it will be much differnt if

Assuming it keeps cutting out then it keeps restarting..... If the
inertia switch activates it HAS to be rest manually. Therefore your
problem is not with the switch.

As your engine will restart, it has nothing to do with the inertia
switch. Once an inertia switch has triggered it has to be manually
reset.
Sound just like my XR2i. Does your car have a rev counter?

a) vacuum leak into inlet manifold
b) faulty ISCV
c) faulty TPS
d) faulty gearbox speed sensor
e) faulty clutch or brake pedal switch.
NOT to do with the inertia switch, if this trips the engine stops all
together until the switch is reset- all it does is cuts the power to the
fuel pump.
