Yes, get the Lambda sensor checked first. After that you'll need to get
plugged into a Fiat Examiner tester.
I presume you've checked spark plugs and such first?

Just check them anyway, it only takes a few minutes, and they can be the
root cause of many a silly problem.

Hmm, it might be cheaper in the long run to go to a Fiat dealer - even
if you can just get the initial diagnosis done.
I doubt any third party testers could diagnose properly. Unless it's a
really early model, it'll have the security system on it, and they
haven't disclosed the data for this so that it can be bypassed.
Steve.

Agreed , these cars are very sensitive to spark plugs , we frequently find
problems if the wrong make is fitted. Only fit the genuine Fiat specified
type (which I beleive is a Champion on this car) and do not fit any other
make if you are to avoid problems.

If you buy a car under 8 years old, you can't get away from it.

You could be looking at such a problem. I don't think the make of plug
per se' is the problem. In fact I think Champions are crap, Bosch are
much better plugs. However, plugs made specifically for car
manufacturers are often made to better tolerances than the ones you by
over the counter.
If you really want a reliable plug, go for NGK.
A faulty plug could quite easily damage a Lambda sensor though. So you
could easily have both problems, fitting just a lambda sensor, without
the plugs isn't going to cure it, nor is vice versa.
